This custom-designed and custom-built home was constructed in 2020 to North American standards. Why is that important? The majority of homes built in Ecuador are built to local Ecuadorian standards – which vary depending upon the crew working on the house.
For example, this home used high-strength concrete mixes to ensure the highest earthquake resistivity; used higher-than-normal quality wiring and fixtures to resist the oxidation from the sea air and employed a real electrician to make sure the home was properly wired.
The kitchen has real stone countertops, quality brand-name appliances and lots of open air storage and shelving. The bathrooms use high-end fixtures and the bathtub is something not commonly found in Ecuadorian homes.
The furniture was custom-designed and built by local artisanal carpenters using properly seasoned wood, high-quality fabrics and cushions and actually fit the rooms they are in.
The Cabaña/BnB is a self-contained unit, with bedroom, living area, kitchenette. It has a private entrance from the street as well as a sliding glass door leading to a private patio and the pool. It currently operates as a BnB generating between $600-$800 monthly. You can continue to operate it as a BnB, or if you wish, use it as a guest cabaña for all your family and friends who will be coming to visit you.
